About Us

Owners, Bob and Melany Minney

Bob and Melany Minney opened Once Upon A Child in Canton, Ohio on September 5, 1996. Bob & Mel both had successful careers in other areas of business and now refer to that as their ‘previous life’. After visiting a Once Upon A Child years ago, Mel decided they had to have one. And, what a great idea that became. Both Bob and Melany have had such a great time with the customers and families that have grown with them and feel like a part of their very own family and cannot wait to add to their ‘Happy Family’ with more customers and friends. They know, as their ‘family’ expands and gets older, they grow out of Once Upon A Child. And, since they could not bare to part with them, opened a Plato’s Closet resale tweens to teens to twenties store in February of 2000 to accommodate those rapidly growing children. It has been a pleasure to work with and for all those Bob & Mel have met along the way and they hope you come on in, visit and become part of their friends and family.
